Nexus 4 Wireless Charger available on Google Play

Well, better late than never I suppose. Google’s somewhat anticipated wireless charging orb is now available on Google Play for $59.99. The charger was expected to launch alongside the Nexus 4 in November, but that never happened. The orb uses Qi inductive charging, which allows the Nexus 4 to charge in four hours. Even though this charger is specifically designed for the Nexus 4, you should be able to charge just about any other Qi-enabled device.

I was able to purchase one quickly without any issues. Google says orders should ship in “less than one week.” After tax and shipping, the total cost for me was $70.27; awfully expensive for a charger.

What do you think of wireless chargers? Do you have, or plan to get, a wireless charger for your device?

Energizer to launch Qi-enabled Bluetooth alarm clock

While I was walking around CES, I stumbled on a small booth occupied by Energizer. Having just acquired a Nexus 4 with Qi wireless charging capabilities, I was curious to see if Energizer had any new charging pads coming out. That’s when I came across an alarm clock with a Qi logo on top. For those not familiar, Qi, pronounced “chee” is an up and coming standard for inductive electrical power transfer. It allows you to charge your device without having to physically plug it into anything.

More after the break.
