Nvidia let consumers see the recently announced gaming hardware “Project Shield” for the first time at CES this week. The portable console is an Android device running Jellybean, the latest Android operating system. It’s powered by Nvidia’s own Tegra 4 chipset- a custom 72-core Nvidia GeForce GPU and quad-core A15 CPU.

Project Shield has a clamshell design, made entirely of a matte black plastic. In addition to the standard D-pad, dual analog sticks and A, B, X, Y buttons, the device also includes start, home, return, and volume keys in the center of the controller. In the back of the device is a micro SD card slot, HDMI mini jack, USB jack, and headphone jack.

The display is a 5-inch 720p retinal multi-touch display. The speakers on the device are located above the D-pad on the left, and above the A, B, X, Y buttons on the right.

The Edge runs 802.11n 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi.
